Saying that the non-linear, wide-open parts of the campaign present some big challenges, 343 Industries, the team behind Halo Infinite, confirmed that it needs more time to work on Infinite’s eagerly awaited co-op modes- Halo Infinite Campaign
Although no previous Halo game has been delivered without the ability to play on the couch and network collaborations, the team has decided to postpone the release of the co-op mission and Forge at Halo Infinite, and it looks like Halo fans will have to wait a little longer before they succeed to fit in with the Master Chief and his friends. Announcing that the reality is that it will take more time to gain a high-quality, fully equipped online co-op experience for 4 players in the massive, wide-open world of Halo Infinite, the team explained what’s actually going on in a lengthy post at Halo Waypoint.
The developer added that it’s also committed to a great experience of working with a split player for 2 players on all Xbox consoles, from the original Xbox One to Xbox Series X, and non-linear, wide-open parts of the campaign present some great challenges for the split-screen, which took more time to resolve. All of this means that 343 Industries won’t be able to deliver the Campaign network co-op on May 3, at the start of Season 2. But they still intend to deliver Campaign online collaboration later in Season 2 and will announce a release date for that and for the split-screen co-op as soon as they can.
And What About Forge?
The team said it’s also making great progress on Forge. Indeed, they are already sending Forge to a small group of community creators and working closely with them to ensure everyone has a great experience creating, sharing, browsing, and playing Forge content. In the near future, they will continue to fly privately with Forge to develop it, and public flights are planned for later this year. They still aim to deliver Forge in Season 3. The 343 Industries wants to convince you that advancement in the 2nd and 3rd seasons didn’t come at the expense of co-op and Forge expansion. To be clear – they noted that this work took place in parallel with the work in the 2nd season, as well as their work on Forge.
Still, there has been better news for Halo fans recently. The 343 Industries recently confirmed that from Season 2, players will be able to earn credits as part of the combat pass system. The studio also confirmed that it has followed discussions on game trade and micro-transactions and plans to reduce prices altogether.
Is Halo Infinite Worth Playing in 2022?
We certainly think that you should. While it’s true, we also miss co-op missions, and we say out loud that we always thought there was something special about Halo’s multiplayer – a mode that pushed a chosen group of franchises, such as Call of Duty, even to the level of eSports and betting here. While its contemporaries were obsessed with reinvention, endlessly complicating things with unlockability, convenience, and competitive advantage that sometimes seems to unfairly punish those who don’t have the luxuries of time, Halo mostly stuck to its weapon: literally.
